Business Health Services
On-Site Nursing
In an attempt to help industries maintain employee health and safety, Palo Alto County Health System's Business Health Service (BHS) now offers On-Site nursing. Our program offers employers the expertise of a registered nurse specially trained in Business Health concerns. The following services fall within the scope of the On-Site Business Health Nurse:
Assessment of employee's current health status, to include:
- Physical assessment
- Health history
- Documentation
- Signs and symptoms of occupational injury
Planning and implementation:
- Triage and Emergency care
- Immunizations
- Disability management
- Case management
- Recommendations on policies and procedures
- Work place evaluation
- Resource person to help employee's meet their individual health needs
- Follow-up care ( i.e. dressing changes, wound checks, suture removal, etc.) which saves the employer and employee from lost work time.
Education and counseling:
- Evaluate learning needs of workers through direct interview and data collection, making it possible to tailor an educational program specific to employee needs.
- Evaluate effectiveness of the educational programs.
- Encourage employees to accept responsibility for their own health and well being by offering counseling and access to educational resources.
- Referrals to an employee assistance program when needed.
