The Hospital Auxiliary provides services and fundraising for Regional Health Services. Those services and activities include:
Escorts & Pink Ladies: Act as guides for patients and visitors who need assistance when at the hospital or clinic. The Pink Ladies also help with the cataract surgery patients and help out around the hospital wherever needed.
Art Contest: Sponsored by the Hospital Auxiliary in the spring. Information for contest in 2013. 2011 winners. 2012 winners.
Major Fund Raisers
Scholarships: We give three $750 scholarships each year: one to a high school graduate, and two to non-traditional students pursuing a career in the area of medicine. Funds are raised through coffees hosted by members either in their home or at the hospital, or elsewhere. The next Coffee & Slightly Used Purse Sale is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2013.
Non-Traditional Student Scholarship Application (due by April 1, 2013)
Baby Book Packets: Given to new parents. Includes a children's book for baby plus pamphlets on early childhood education and information on the Cresco Public Library. This project is funded by book sales that are held twice a year.
Book and jewelry sales are held periodically throughout the year to raise additional funds for hospital equipment and scholarships. The next Masquerade Jewelry Sale is scheduled for April 16, 2013.
Omelet Breakfast: Each year we host an Omelet Breakfast. The next breakfast will be held on April 7, 2013. Many RHSHC employees help with this project. The proceeds from this event go for a specific piece of equipment chosen from a "wish list" submitted by the various departments of RHSHC.
In July we host a four person Best Shot Golf Tournament, and again the proceeds purchase an item from the “wish list”.
The Annual Hospital Auxiliary Quilt Auction is held late summer. The Quilt Auction has raised approximately $450,000 since it began in 1977. It has helped support the purchase of items such as cardiac equipment, surgical tables, fetal heart monitors, portable x-ray equipment and many other equipment needs at Regional Health Services. The LoveLight Tree is displayed in the main corridor of the hospital in November, December and January. LoveLights may be purchased as a memorial for a loved one, in honor of the birth of a baby, or to thank someone such as a neighbor, special friend, or teacher, or possibly another special event. Proceeds from this event are used to purchase items for the hospital.
The Annual Hospital Auxiliary Holiday Cookie & Candy Sale is held in December. Proceeds from this event are used to purchase items from the “wish list”. This event in 2012 will be held on Friday, December 14th. This year something new is being added: The 1st Annual Purse Sale of gently used, clean purses.
The RHS Hospital Auxiliary meets on the first Thursday of each month (no meeting in January) at 1:30 pm in the Laura Rose Lobby of the Hospital. Everyone is welcome! Membership dues are only $5 a year and help offset the cost of expenses such as advertising and supplies. There are featured speakers as well as updates by the Hospital CEO.
